The purpose of the Susana De Moya Foundation is to merit academic excellence and inspire Dominican youth. The foundation acknowledges the importance of maintaining cultural heritage and the need to help our families assimilate into life in the United States The philosophies of the Susana De Moya Foundation Award are inspired by the exemplary life of Susana De Moya.

GROUP OF DOMINICAN PROFESSIONALS IN WASHINGTON D.C.

The Group of Dominican Professionals in Washington, DC (“GDP-WASH”) is a Washington, DC non-profit organization with 501(c)(3) status pursuant to the Internal Revenue Code.  Founded in 1996 to bring together Dominican professionals in the Washington Metropolitan Area, one of GDP-WASH’s objectives is to contribute to the economic, social, and cultural development of the Dominican Republic and its people, including Dominicans on the island, in the Washington Metropolitan Area and in the United States in general.

UNIDAD DOMINICANA, WASHINGTON D.C.

Unidad Dominicana is an organization, established by Franklin Garcia, to serve as an umbrella for unifying efforts for all the Dominican-oriented organizations in the Greater Washington DC Metropolitan area (Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia). Its objective is to contribute to promote the work of Dominican-oriented organizations and connect all the member organizations by serving as a network to assist the expansion of member organization’s outreach within all member organizations as well as outside of the Dominican community. Unidad Dominicana accomplishes its goal by hosting meetings with organization’s representatives, assisting to promote organization’s events within member organizations, and participate in cultural and social events promoting member organizations. Membership is free and open to all Dominican-oriented organizations, and its membership varies depending on life of member organizations and founding of new Dominican-oriented organizations.

Unidad Dominicana’s has its own Folklore group called Grupo Folklorico de Unidad Dominicana. Grupo Folklorico de Unidad Dominicana is under the coordination of Chila Garcia and Janet Liriano. It is made up of youth depicting Dominican customs. These include young ladies wearing traditional Dominican gowns and Traje Típico for the young men dancing to the traditional Dominican rhythm of Merengue. It also features youth wearing the traditional carnival costume “Diablos Cajuelos.”

THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA DEMOCRATIC PARTY

Chartered by the Democratic National Committee as the elected representatives of the Democratic voters in the District of Columbia, the Committee provides input in the affairs of the Democratic Party at the block, precinct, state and national level by ensuring, preserving and protecting the principles of Democracy, freedom, equality and service for the common good through political action for good government, fair elections, quality elected officials, strong and vibrant communities, the election of a Democratic nominee for President of the United States, and voting rights for DC.
